Welcome to Cammino Canino

This guide explains everything you need to know before your dog’s first stay. My goal is to provide safe, calm, and attentive care in a small-group home environment, so that every dog feels comfortable and well looked after.

Step 1: Contact & Availability

The first step is simply reaching out.

You can contact Cammino Canino to:

• check availability

• ask questions about services

• discuss your dog’s needs

If space is available, we will schedule an in person or virtual meet-and-greet appointment.

Step 2: Meet-and-Greet

All new dogs complete a meet-and-greet assessment before their first booking. It can be booked by getting in touch directly or via our Google Calendar.

This meeting allows us to:

• get to know your dog’s personality

• evaluate compatibility with the environment

• discuss routines, exercise needs, and feeding

• review any medical or behavioral considerations

The meet-and-greet helps ensure that the experience will be safe and comfortable for your dog and the other dogs in care.

Step 3: Intake Form & Service Agreement

Before the first stay, clients complete our intake form and service agreement.

These documents includes important information such as:

• owner contact details

• emergency contact information

• veterinary contact details

• vaccination status

• feeding instructions

• medical conditions or medications

• behavioral information

Providing complete and accurate information is essential so that your dog receives appropriate care and supervision.

Step 4: Confirming Your Booking

Once the meet-and-greet and paperwork are complete, the booking can be confirmed.

A deposit of 50% of the quote is required to reserve the dates. The remaining balance is paid before or at pick-up.

Drop-Off and Pick-Up

Unless otherwise arranged, dogs are dropped off and picked up at:

Manifattura Tabacchi

Via delle Cascine 35

50144 Florence, Italy

Please arrive at the agreed time so that the day’s schedule runs smoothly.

Preparing for Your Dog’s Stay

To help your dog have a comfortable experience, please bring:

• enough food for the duration of the stay (we advised that you prepare some extra food just in case)

• any medications with clear instructions

• a leash and collar or harness

Optional items such as a favorite toy, blanket or dog bed can also help dogs feel more at home.

Items You Do Not Need to Bring

Cammino Canino provides many everyday care items, so there is no need to pack the following:

• Food and water bowls

• Poop bags

• Dog treats (unless you prefer to provide your own or your dog has dietary restrictions)

If your dog has specific dietary requirements or sensitivities, please let me know and feel free to bring your preferred treats.

Arrival Tips for the First Visit

The first visit can be an exciting new experience for your dog. To help things go smoothly, a few simple steps can make a big difference.

• Try to arrive calmly and on time for the scheduled drop-off.

• Keep goodbyes short and relaxed, dogs usually settle faster when departures are brief.

• If possible, give your dog a short walk before arrival so they arrive ready to explore calmly.

Most dogs adjust quickly once they begin their walk, play session, or settle into the daily routine.

What If My Dog Is Nervous or Doesn’t Eat?

It is normal for some dogs to feel slightly unsure during their first visit in a new environment.

Some dogs may:

• take a little time to relax

• be less interested in food during the first meal

• stay more observant than playful initially

This is completely normal and most dogs settle in very quickly once they understand the routine. If a dog shows signs of stress or difficulty adjusting, I will always monitor the situation closely and communicate with you to ensure your dog is comfortable and well cared for.

Daily Routine

Dogs follow a structured daily routine designed to provide both activity and rest.

A typical day may include:

• longer outdoor walk or park visit

• supervised playtime and enrichment

• rest periods throughout the day

• additional outdoor breaks and walks

Activity levels are adjusted based on the dog’s energy level, age, and temperament.

Communication During Your Dog’s Stay

Clients receive photo and video updates via WhatsApp during their dog’s stay. This allows owners to stay connected and see how their dog is settling in.

Health & Safety

To ensure a safe environment for all dogs:

Dogs must:

• be up to date on vaccinations

• be free of contagious illness

• have regular flea and tick prevention

If your dog becomes ill before their stay, please notify Cammino Canino as soon as possible.

Emergency Situations

In the unlikely event of a medical emergency:

• every effort will be made to contact the owner or emergency contact immediately

• if necessary, veterinary care will be sought without delay

Owners remain responsible for any veterinary expenses incurred.

Cancellation Policy

If you need to cancel or change a booking, please notify Cammino Canino as soon as possible.

Deposits may not be refundable for late cancellations, as outlined in the service agreement.

The goal is always for dogs to feel safe, relaxed, and happy during their stay.

I look forward to meeting you and your dog!
